Give Online to Christmas for Kids

In anticipation of Mission’s move in to our new Worship and Student centers, Christmas for Kids is a special offering we will be receiving at our Christmas Eve services that will enable us to remodel our current facilities to be innovative, transformational spaces for Children's ministry.

Each weekend, children make up 25% of our total attendance. That’s about 700 children each weekend.  We anticipate doubling that number by Easter 2010!  When Children’s ministry inherits the 4 current buildings on campus in March, it will double their ministry space.   BUT - ¾ of that space was originally designed for offices, students, or adults. We plan to modify those areas to reflect the same care and design for our children that we have put into our new worship and student spaces.

Preparing for the future…

We’re really excited about the plans to create great environments appropriate for children in each age group.  Here’s a brief overview:

Our current “Treehouse” building will become our nursery/toddler center (babies-2’s), conveniently located closest to the new worship building. To convert this former office space to nurseries means gutting the insides and rebuilding 7 new rooms appropriate for each age. Some of the features of this remodel will include: a glass double-door entrance, its own computer check-in stations, Dutch-doors at each room, viewing windows, new carpet and a fresh, clean look.

Our current nursery/grade school building will become a dedicated preschool facility. Structurally it will remain the same, retaining the large group teaching room and three classrooms each for 3 and 4 year olds with adjoining bathrooms for these potty-trained children. In addition, we will combine rooms 207-208 to become a large room for our Created Zone (special needs) children and our On Deck area. Each room will also be re-carpeted and be redecorated with a fun look for preschoolers.

Our current Student ministry/56 building will serve as our ministry areas for K-1 and 5-6^th grades. Kindergarten-1^st grades will move into the current 56 room, while 5^th-6^th grades will move up to the “Warehouse” (currently student ministries). Both rooms will receive new lighting, carpeting and paint.

Our current Worship Center will become the Family Center and will be the ministry home of 2-4^th grades. The lobby is perfectly located to be the main check-in center for preschool-4^th grades. Inside we’ll have new carpeting and a whole new look that will be fun and engaging for elementary kids. Some kid-friendly features will include: a lower level inset stage, lowered screens, and an interactive stage set to enhance the teaching.

The estimated total cost for this project is $250,000 and you can help make it happen through your giving on Christmas Eve. As we prepare for 1500 kids at Easter, we ask you to consider sponsoring a child for $167.  Your investment in each child will help us provide facilities that will last to effectively reach many more.
